NBER Innovation Policy Working Group Post-Doctoral Fellowship and Research Grants

The Innovation Policy Working Group at the National Bureau of Economic Research seeks to foster economic research on the interactions between public policy and the innovation process, and to provide communication mechanisms between researchers and the innovation policy community. We are seeking proposals for the following:
- The NBER Innovation Policy Post-Doctoral Fellowship
- Proposals for research grants

ABOUT THE FELLOWSHIP: The Innovation Policy post-doctoral fellowship consists of a $60,000 stipend for academic year 2013-2014, and includes an office at the NBER Cambridge office. The fellow is expected to spend the academic year at the NBER, and to spend some time participating in the planning of activities of the working group. Strong preference will be given to just-completed Ph.D.s whose research focuses on the economics of innovation and/or entrepreneurship. Applicants must have been granted their PhD or else be expected to receive it by August 31, 2013. ABOUT THE GRANT: The Innovation Policy research grant program is also seeking proposals for two $20,000 research grant awards for academic year 2013-2014. We encourage proposals focusing on a range of innovation policy issues, including (but not limited to) academic technology transfer, the impact of the intellectual property system, scientific and engineering workforce issues, the impact of policy on technology entrepreneurship, antitrust and innovation, and the provision of innovation incentives. Grantees are not expected to be resident at the NBER, and can use the funds for a variety of purchases, including data acquisition, RA fellowships, or summer support. Preference will be given to junior scholars whose research focuses on the economics of innovation and/or entrepreneurship. To apply, please submit a proposal of not more than 2 pages, along with a CV, by December 14, 2012 to: dhealy@nber.org

Winners will be notified by February 1, 2013.
