The Securities and Exchange Commission invites applications for a Deputy Director - Risk Assessment. This position is located in the Division of Economic and Risk Analysis in Washington, DC. United States Citizens may apply between Friday, August 09, 2013 to Tuesday, August 27, 2013. Salary range is $150,372.00 to $226,160.00/per year.

ABOUT DERA: The Division of Economic and Risk Analysis (DERA) was created in September 2009 to integrate financial economics and rigorous data analytics into the core mission of the SEC. The Division is involved across the entire range of SEC activities, including policy-making, rule-making, enforcement, and examination. As the agency's "think tank," DERA relies on a variety of academic disciplines, quantitative and non-quantitative approaches, and knowledge of market institutions and practices to help the Commission approach complex matters in a fresh light. DERA also assists in the Commission's efforts to identify, analyze, and respond to risks and trends, including those associated with new financial products and strategies. Through the range and nature of its activities, DERA serves the critical function of promoting collaborative efforts throughout the agency and breaking through silos that might otherwise limit the impact of the agency's institutional expertise.

DUTIES: If selected, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for sophisticated analysis of economic, financial, and legal disciplines with data analytics and quantitative methodologies.

Typical Duties Include:
- Serving as the senior advisor to the Chair, the Commission, and the Commission staff on matters pertaining to economic risk assessment.
- Providing direction and management of large-scale agency programs and operations to efficient achieve specified goals and objectives,
- Supervising and directing the staff of the Division.
- Building economic models, determine proper empirical methodology, organizing and directing data collection, applying appropriate methods to analyze data and preparing reports of studies.
- Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with leading economic experts.

7. Knowledge of Economic Principles, Theories, Concepts, Methods and Techniques
