Economist, Modelling and Projection Department

The Central Bank of Chile (BCCh) is searching for an economist to act as the head of the Modelling and Projection Department (MPD). The head of the MPD is responsible for conducting and supervising macroeconomic analysis, developing analytical models, and making projections of macro variables that are contained in the Inflation Report of the BCCh. Also, she/he provides advice to the Chief Economist and the Board of Directors in different policy issues including monetary policy decisions.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The main responsibilities of the position are:
- To conduct and supervise macroeconomic analysis and research performed by economists at the MPD
- To supervise the development of macroeconomic models, including structural models
- To perform macroeconomic projections over the medium-term and to evaluate alternative trajectories for the monetary policy
- To evaluate macroeconomic risk scenarios

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- M.A. in economics, ideally with a Ph.D. in economics.
- Work experience of at least four years after completing graduate studies in macroeconomic analysis and monetary policy.
- Macroeconomic modeling experience.
- Organization and planning skills to manage team work, and to communicate ideas both verbally and in writing.
- Proficient in English (test results may be requested).
- Strong moral values and a commitment to the strict ethical principals required by the Bank.
