Senior Leadership Opportunities

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) in Washington, DC is seeking candidates for two of its key leadership positions reporting directly to the Chairman.

As an independent regulatory agency, recently enhanced by the Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, the mission of the CFTC is to protect market users and the public from fraud, manipulation, and abusive practices related to the trading of commodity and financial futures and options, and to foster open, competitive, and financially sound futures and option markets.

CHIEF ECONOMIST:
- Duties: Dynamic opportunity to provide expert economic advice to the Commission and guide its overall professional economic efforts. Performs cutting edge research and analysis on the economic impact of the CFTC's regulatory policies on the futures industry and other sectors of the economy.
- Qualifications: Ability to perform at an executive level as a key member of the Chairman's leadership team. Candidates should have national recognition as a subject matter expert in economics or financial economics. Preferred qualifications for this position include a Ph.D. or master's degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics or other related fields, combined with extensive knowledge of exchange trading, and surveillance functions, data analysis, and financial markets.

DIRECTOR, DIVISION OF MARKET OVERSIGHT:
- Duties: Assists the Chairman by leading a fast-paced and evolving program of oversight of market operations and swap data reporting, review and analysis of product and rule filings, and market and trade practice surveillance.
- Qualifications: Ability to perform at an executive level as a key member of the Chairman's leadership team plus significant and relevant experience (at least one year of which was equivalent to the grade 15 level in the Federal service) or comparable outside the Federal service. COMPENSATION: Salary negotiable up to $230,700.
