Ph.D. Doctoral Assistantship Opportunities in Economics

The Department of Economics at Florida International University invites applications for Ph.D. assistantships in economics.

The four-year assistantship includes tuition fee waivers and provides a competitive annual stipend. In addition outstanding applicants will be considered for the Dean's fellowships. Candidates wishing to be considered for an economics department assistantship should submit their applications before March 15, 2013.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL: Located in Miami, FIU is one of the 25 largest universities in the nation, based on enrollment. It has more than 42,000 students and offers more than 200 bachelors, master's and doctoral programs. FIU emphasizes research as a major component of its mission and has been classified by the Carnegie Foundation as a Research University with high research activity. ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: The department entered a phase of significant transformation in the mid 1990s and has continued to evolve ever since. Research interests of economics faculty members include applied microeconomics, international economics, political economy, economic growth, economic theory, public economics, and development economics. Graduates of the program are employed in academia and industry both in the U.S. and abroad.
