Program Director, Extractive Resources Governance
The School of Public Policy, University of Calgary invites applications for a Program Director, Extractive Resources Governance. This is a full-time limited term academic position at the Associate or Full Professor level, commencing July 1, 2013. The term will be for 5 years with an opportunity for renewal at the end of the initial term. In addition to teaching and supervision at the graduate level and maintaining an active research program, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading and delivering on the Extractive Resource Governance program in the School. He/she will work closely with the Area Director for International Policy, with other Directors and members of the School, as well as strategic external partners from academic, business and government organizations.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have a PhD in a relevant discipline and show evidence of high quality research and a long term funded research plan. He/she must also have an active research program and a track record of publications on topics related to extractive resource governance issues, such as regulatory policy and frameworks, community and regional policy development and, to a lesser extent, fiscal policy. In addition to a record of scholarly achievement, given the mandate of the School it would be highly desirable for the applicant to possess a strong record of service and accomplishment in a policy setting (government or NGO) or in a senior role in the private sector. Demonstrated administrative and leadership experience are also highly desirable.
