Assistant Professor of Economics of Markets and Organizations
JOB DESCRIPTION: The successful applicant will undertake and help coordinate research and teaching in the group of Markets and Organizations. Preferably the candidate is active in research in Economics of Organization, Entrepreneurship and/or Industrial Organization. However, excellent researchers in the broader area of applied microeconomics are also invited to apply. Research should reflect a clear quantitative and analytical orientation, preferably - given the current composition of the group and its research activities - empirical in nature (for instance field or laboratory experiments).
Teaching assignments may be at the undergraduate (Bsc) and the graduate (Msc) level, most likely in the Economics of Organization, Entrepreneurship or Industrial Organization. The group's programs are well-embedded in the overall economics curriculum. They emphasize a quantitative and analytical approach.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Requirements are a PhD in Economics, the proven ability to initiate and implement research of international standards, the ability to stimulate and encourage the research of others, demonstrated teaching competence, and the ability to teach in English. Short listed candidates will be interviewed at the ASSA meetings (January 4-6, 2013, San Diego) or in Amsterdam. Short listed candidates will be asked to give an academic seminar afterwards.
TENURE TRACK: Successful completion of the tenure track of six years requires, among others, that the candidate at least classifies as a fellow of the Tinbergen Institute. Moreover, candidates should be able to teach at the different levels in the program.

APPOINTMENT: The salary will be on the salary scale for Assistant Professors at Dutch universities and in accordance with the collective agreement regulating employment conditions at Dutch universities. The date on which the appointment is to begin will be determined by mutual agreement, preferably by August 2013.
The appointment will be for an initial period of three years, upon adequate functioning, the appointment is prolonged for another period of three years. After this extension, there will be the possibility to become tenured (tenure will depend upon good research and teaching performance).
Official Dutch scales for Assistant Professors run from Euro 3.195 (minimum scale 11) to Euro 4.970 (max scale 12) gross per month. Favourable tax agreements may apply to non-Dutch applicants and the University offers a very attractive pension scheme.
