Post Doc Position for an EC-funded Project on
"Impact of Networks, Globalisation, and their INteraction
With EU Strategies" (INGINEUS)
The Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM), an Italian
research institute that carries out research on sustainable
development, is offering a two-year Post Doc position on
the research project "Impact of networks, Globalisation,
and their INteraction with EU Strategies" (INGINEUS), co-
funded by the European Commission Seventh Framework
Programme.
ABOUT THE PROJECT:
The project addresses the impact of globalisation and the
rapid growth of selected emerging economies in the world on
the competitiveness and strategies of European Union firms,
industries and regions. It focuses particularly on the
evolution of global production networks (GPNs) into global
innovation networks (GINs) and the impact that this new
process of global capitalism has on knowledge intensive
activities in the EU.
Under the coordination of FEEM, INGINEUS brings together
researchers from 14 institutions located in Europe (Italy,
Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Sweden, Norway and United
Kingdom) and in some of the most important emerging
economies in the world (Brazil, China, India, and South

QUALIFICATIONS:
We invite applications from Post Doc researchers with an
interest in one or more of the following research fields:
International trade, Organization of firms (outsourcing),
Micro-econometrics, Intellectual property rights. Knowledge
of micro-econometrics and firm-level studies is of great
asset, while familiarity with innovation systems, economics
of innovation and technology and regional policy can be
advantageous. The candidate is expected to have a good
general background in economics and innovation systems.
He/she must have a PhD, or towards the end of his/her PhD
studies preferably in economics; PhDs in other disciplines
can be also accepted if coupled with a solid economic
background. Previous experience on EU-funded research
projects and on planning and progressing field work can be
an asset. An excellent command of English (both written and
spoken) is essential.
DESCRIPTION:
The post is based in FEEM's headquarters in Milan. The
selected candidate will interact with the project partners,
assist in writing reports on the scientific output of the
project to the European Commission, he/she will conduct
research on the project under the supervision of the
project coordinator, he/she will write scientific papers,
present them at international Conferences and, when
necessary, participate in the project meetings.

FURTHER DETAILS:
The successful candidate will join FEEM on a full-time
basis. He/she is expected to begin his/her assignment in
January 2010. The appointment period will be two years
long. Gross salary will be based on qualifications and
working experience (indicatively from 16,000 to 20,000
Euro/yearly).
