Faculty Position in Risk Management
The Department of Risk Management and Insurance at Georgia
State University invites applications for a tenure track
position at the assistant or associate professor level to
begin Fall 2010.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualified candidates will have completed or expect to
complete before Fall 2010 a Ph.D. in economics, finance or
related field. Applicants should have research interests in
at least one of the following Journal of Economic
Literature (JEL) classifications: D1: Household Behavior
and Family Economics; D91: Intertemporal Consumer Choice-
Life Cycle Models; H55: Social Security and Public
Pensions; J26: Retirement-Retirement Policies. Successful
candidates at the assistant level will demonstrate a high
potential for scholarly publications in the leading
economics and/or finance journals. Candidates at the
associate level should have strong publication records in
the leading economics and/or finance journals and be able
to actively participate in the development of the
department's academic programs.
THE ENVIRONMENT:
The Department is one of the most prominent and influential
risk management programs in the world. With over twenty
active researchers with backgrounds spanning economics,
finance, risk management, actuarial science, and law, the
Department has become a premier center for scholarship and
education in the valuation and management of risk. In 2009,
the department will continue to expand its influence with
the launch of the multi-million dollar Center for the
Economic Analysis of Risk (CEAR). The Department seeks a
scholar whose skills will complement those of colleagues
interested in the coordinated study of risk management
problems at their most fundamental levels. The salary
level, course load and additional research support are
competitive.
