       Faculty Position in Time Series/Financial Econometrics



     The Department of Risk Management and Insurance in the
     Robinson College of Business (primary appointment) and the
     Department of Economics in the Andrew Young School of
     Policy Studies (secondary appointment) at Georgia State
     University invite applications for a tenure track position
     in Time Series/Financial Econometrics to begin in Fall
     2010. Rank is open but we expect to hire at the assistant
     or associate professor level.



     JOB QUALIFICATIONS:


     Candidates should have a Ph.D. or, for the assistant
     professor level, expect to complete the degree requirements
     by August 2010 in economics, finance, statistics or related
     fields. Successful applicants will have strong research
     capabilities in time series/financial econometrics (both
     pure and applied). Candidates at the assistant level will
     need to demonstrate a high potential for scholarly
     publications in the leading economics, finance or
     statistics journals. Candidates at the associate professor
     senior level should have strong publication records in the
     leading economics, finance or statistics journals and be
     able to actively participate in the development of the
     department's academic programs.



     ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT:


     The Department of Risk Management and Insurance is one of
     the prominent and most influential risk management programs
     in the world. With over twenty active researchers in fields
     spanning economics, finance, mathematical and quantitative
     finance, actuarial science and law, the Department has
     become a premier center for scholarship and education in
     the valuation and management of risk. This year, together
     with its partners including the Federal Reserve Bank of
     Atlanta, the Department will launch the multi-million
     dollar Center for the Economic Analysis of Risk (CEAR) - an
     interdisciplinary center devoted to the coordinated study
     of risk management problems. Georgia State's Department of
     Economics, also a stakeholder of CEAR, has won national
     acclaim for its insightful research in public finance,
     environmental and labor economics, urban and regional
     economics, and experimental economics, setting new academic
     standards in programs of study that combine solid research
     with public policy. The salary level, course load and
     additional research support are competitive.
