The School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell
University has an immediate opening for a Research Associate
in the Employment and Disability Institute.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The position of Research Associate within the Employment
and Disability Institute (EDI) in the Extension/Outreach
Division of the ILR School is responsible for assisting
principle investigators in the development and execution of
research projects to evaluate disability and employment-
related outcomes that are closely aligned with the
strategic mission and core values of the ILR School. This
individual will coordinate various aspects of these
projects, including: constructing innovative data
structures from national secondary surveys and
administrative records, communicating summary findings to
team members, utilizing econometric techniques to analyze
proposed hypotheses, and authoring research papers.

This is a two year initial appointment with the expectation
of renewal based on available funding and work.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- PhD in Economics or related field
- Strong computer programming skills (preferably SAS or
Stata)
- Experience handling large, complex data sets, experience
analyzing cross-sectional and longitudinal secondary data
sets
- Three or more years experience after graduation in
empirical social science field research, including
development of research hypotheses and design, design and
implementation of quantitative statistical models,
selection and application of data analysis techniques,
interpretation of regression results, and report writing
- Writing ability and scholarly record (articles in peer-
reviewed journals, articles in trade publications,
research and project reports, informational brochures,
policy briefs, etc.)
- Strong project management skills and ability to work
collaboratively in a team
- Experience in grant writing and grant management
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in collaborative
environments and to contribute to the innovation and
outcome success of a team is imperative
