                         Research Department

                 Research Position on Monetary Policy
                       and Financial Stability

The Research Department of the National Bank of Belgium
invites applications of Ph.D. economists for a temporal
research position on Monetary Policy and Financial
      Stability.

      ABOUT THE PROJECT:

The research project will focus on the interaction between
monetary policy and financial stability. The policy
implications should be studied in the context of a general
equilibrium model that contains various financial frictions
and a well specified role for the financial intermediaries.
This extended macro-finance model should also be useful to
understand the role of money, credit and asset price
developments for the amplification of the business cycle
and for the creation of financial imbalances and
      instability.

      JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

The candidates should hold a Ph.D. in Economics, have a
strong quantitative background and a proven research record
or potential. Particular interest and experience on topics
closely related to the research project is desired.
Publications in international refereed journals have a high
      priority.

The positions have a maximum duration of two years (two
one-year contracts). Part-time and short term contracts are
possible. The salary will depend on the relevant
      experience.
