             Assistant/Associate Professor in Economics



     The University of Amsterdam (UvA) has an internationally
     acclaimed profile and is located at the heart of the Dutch
     capital. Amsterdam is a world centre for business and
     research, as well as a hub of cultural and media
     activities. The UvA is a member of the League of European
     Research Universities.


     The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at the UvA
     conducts international research in the fields of
     accounting, finance, management, economics and
     econometrics. It also provides academic courses in these
     areas. The UvA Business School and the UvA School of
     Economics are part of the FEB.


     The FEB currently has the following vacancy: Assistant/
     Associate Professor in Economics, full-time, vacancy number

     TASKS:


     - To lecture in economics, in particular, the economics of
       the public sector and more generally to contribute to the
       program in this area
     - To supervise student theses
     - To undertake independent research leading to publications
       in international journals as part of the research
       programme 'Experimental and Political Economics'
       (Director Prof. Frans van Winden), which is being carried
       out at the Center for Research in Experimental Economics
       and political Decision-making (CREED)
     - To take part in various committees



     REQUIREMENTS:


     - PhD
     - International publications are an advantage
     - An interest and, preferably, experience in teaching
       in this field
     - Good teaching qualities; new assistant professors will be
       required to follow the Learning and Teaching in Higher
       Education Programme (LTHEP, in Dutch referred to as BKO),
       a system adopted by all Dutch universities
     - Ability to produce high quality independent research
     - To be considered for an Associate Professorship,
       substantial teaching experience and publications in
       leading journals are prerequisites

     JOB DESCRIPTION:


     Appointment at the Assistant Professor level will initially
     be for one year and, conditional on adequate functioning,
     prolonged for another three years. At the end of the four
     years, there is the possibility of tenure, again
     conditional on adequate performance. The salary will be on
     salary scales 11/12, currently a minimum of Euro 3,195 and
     a maximum of 4,970 gross per month. The appointment will be
     subject to the collective agreement regulating employment
     conditions at Dutch universities. The date on which the
     appointment is to start will be determined by mutual
     agreement. Favourable tax agreements may apply to non-Dutch
     applicants. The UvA offers a very attractive pension
     scheme.
