Assistant Professor
The Department of Agricultural Economics seeks to fill a
tenure track faculty position. The person in this position
will be expected to enhance the Department's nationally
recognized Extension and research program in livestock
marketing. The position is a full-time, 12 month
appointment. This position is 80 percent Extension and
20 percent Research with some flexibility.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
The Department of Agricultural Economics offers B.S. degree
programs in agricultural economics and agribusiness, M.S.
programs in agricultural economics, the Master in
Agribusiness (MAB) degree, and a Ph.D. in economics with a
specialization in agricultural economics. The faculty
produces nationally and internationally renowned programs
to fulfill its land grant university mission of providing
teaching, research, and Extension educational programs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and deliver a nationally recognized Extension
program in livestock marketing to address critical problems
and issues applicable to the Kansas livestock industry.
Develop collaborative programs/projects with other units
and departments at Kansas State University, allied industry
organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders
related to the livestock industry. Develop a nationally
recognized applied research program in the area of
livestock economics including livestock biosecurity/health
economics. Mentor and advise graduate student research.
Attract grant funds to support Extension and research
efforts.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Earned doctoral degree in agricultural economics,
economics, or closely related field. Demonstrated knowledge
of the livestock industry. Strong commitment to or
experience with Extension and research programs. Strong
professional record of academic achievement. Strong
commitment to directing graduate student research. Strong
commitment to excellence in research, Extension, and
outreach.
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
This is an unclassified position of Kansas State
University. The salary will be commensurate with the
qualifications of the applicant. The K-State benefit
