GEP Director & Chair in International Economics
The position of GEP Director and Chair in International
Economics presents a significant opportunity to join one of
the leading and most prestigious economics schools in
Europe. The successful candidate will contribute to its
further development as a centre of excellence in research,
teaching and public engagement in this area of key
strategic importance for the School, the University and the
Centre's major sponsors.
ABOUT GEP:
GEP was established in 2001 by its founding Director,
Professor David Greenaway - now Vice-Chancellor of
Nottingham University - who set out to create a research
facility that could be regarded as a national asset. It has
long since surpassed that expectation, and now enjoys a
reputation as a world-leading centre for research on
globalisation, trade and international economics.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The role of GEP Director forms an integral part of the
School's objective to further enhance the Centre's standing
in all areas of activity, through:
- Deepening the pool of world-leading research in areas of
globalisation and international trade;
- Securing international visibility for GEP and the
Nottingham School of Economics as a centre of research
excellence;
- Creating career paths for next generation of academic
researchers;
- Contributing to popular debates in key area of
globalisation;
- Building a genuinely global research presence for GEP
through the development of activities on Nottingham's
international campuses in Malaysia and China.
The GEP Centre Director will enjoy operational support
from an exceptional administrative team, leaving space to
provide strategic leadership to an outstanding group of
researchers, to shape the Centre's research activities,
and to identify its future research priorities.
