The Norwegian School of Economics and Business
Administration, Department of Economics invites
applications for the position of Professor/Associate
Professor in Industrial Organization (Permanent, Full-time).
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
The Department offers a stimulating research environment,
where the main research areas in economics are
Environmental Economics, Experimental Economics,
International Economics, Labour Economics, Macroeconomics,
and Industrial Organization. For more information please

Industrial Organization is an active field of research at
the Department, spanning both theoretical and empirical
work. Members have contributed to the literature on topics
such as competition policy, economics of innovation,
vertical relationships, and testing for market power. The
appointee should have a strong background in empirical
and/or theoretical Industrial Organization, broadly defined
as including strategic firm behavior, game theory, and
economics of information.
The applicants will be assessed based on an overall
evaluation of documented professional competence.
Scientific competence will be evaluated in terms of the
amount and quality of international publications.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Faculty members at the Norwegian School of Economics and
Business Administration are expected to be good teachers.
In assessing the applicants' pedagogical qualifications,
the evaluation committee will consider experience in
teaching and student supervision, the quality of teaching
material produced by the applicant, and other relevant
documentation that demonstrates pedagogical qualifications.
In addition to submitting written documentation, possible
appointees will be required to meet for an interview, and
to give a trial lecture and/or a seminar.
The appointee may also be required to enroll in a
pedagogical course of short duration.
A doctorate degree from an accredited school is required.
The appointee is expected to be involved in teaching and
student supervision in degree programs at all levels. In
particular, teaching and supervision of master and doctoral
students who specialize in Industrial Organization will be
important tasks.
Applicants have the opportunity to ask for their
qualifications to be evaluated against the requirements
for a full professorship.
SALARY/BENEFITS:
Salary is negotiable according to the Norwegian State
Salary Scale for Professor or Associate Professor.
In addition we can offer:
- Local research funds will be available for travelling
grants for conference and workshop presentations. Good
facilities in terms of extensive research library,
personal equipment and personal annum for books and
journals.
- Publications in international refereed journals have high
priority. A selection of A-Journal publications is
rewarded with publication bonus in the order of NOK 80000
(single authorship). In addition the personal annum can
be increased through publications in some other selected
journals.
- Favorable arrangement which will make you a member of the
Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.
