JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide leadership for Kansas State University's
Agricultural Economics Extension program in Southeast
Kansas. Successful applicant will be responsible for
planning, designing, marketing, implementing, and
evaluating, significant Extension educational programs.
Responsibilities also include cooperating in the
development and delivery of training programs for county
Extension staff with other Agricultural Economics
Extension faculty. Create an environment that fosters
diversity, collegiality and ability to work in a multi-
cultural setting.
- Develop a Cooperative Extension and Applied Research
Program in agricultural economics with an
interdisciplinary team of Extension specialists and
research scientists. This program will be responsive to
the issues and needs of the people of Southeast Kansas
and integrate with Agricultural Economics faculty and
other subject matter specialists at the area and state
level, where appropriate.
- Meet expectations of Extension-related scholarship and
applied research. Extension scholarship includes
developing Extension publications, interacting and
sharing ideas with other Extension and research
colleagues, and communicating with clientele via public
meetings/conferences, web sites, and other electronic
means. The Applied Research Program should complement
Extension education goals and objectives and include
participation in appropriate professional organizations,
and publishing in agricultural economics and production
science related outlets.
- Jointly responsible to the Southeast Area Extension
Director and the Head of the Department of Agricultural
Economics for subject matter competency.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
1.) M.S. degree at the time of appointment in Agricultural
Economics.
2.) Non-tenure track appointment.
3.) Interest in production agriculture.
4.) Excellent English language written and oral
communication skills.
5.) Strong commitment to expanding and fostering diversity.
6.) Ability to use technology and delivery methods that
support educational programs and guide behavior change
among Extension clientele.
7.) Eligibility to obtain, or possession of, a valid Kansas
Driver's License.
Preferred:
- Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics (if successful candidate
has a Ph.D., position will be placed on tenure-track in
the Department of Agricultural Economics).
- Experience in Extension educational programs and/or in
field research involving cooperation with other
scientists, agricultural producers, and agribusiness
firms.
- Evidence of ability to work as part of an
interdisciplinary team.
SALARY/BENEFITS:
Salary is commensurate with academic training and
experience. This is an unclassified position of K-State
Research and Extension. The Kansas State University
