      The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at the
      Universiteit van Amsterdam (UvA) conducts international
      research in the fields of Accounting, Finance, Management,
      Economics and Econometrics. It also provides academic
      courses in these areas. The UvA Business School and the UvA
      School of Economics form part of the FEB. The UvA School
      of Economics (ASE) currently has the following vacancy:
      Assistant Professor of Economics of Organization and

      JOB DESCRIPTION:

      The successful applicant will undertake and help coordinate
      research and teaching in the field of Economics of
      Organization and Entrepreneurship.

      The Universiteit van Amsterdam School of Economics (ASE) is
      among the top economics research institutes in Europe. The
      most recent ranking by the Journal of the European Economic
      Association puts the ASE in the top 10. The School fosters
      a stimulating academic climate.

      Researchers in the Economics of Organization and
      Entrepreneurship section currently publish on topics in
      Economics of Organization (e.g. personnel economics,
      behavioral contract theory, performance measurement) and
      Entrepreneurship (e.g. determinants of entrepreneurial
      activity and performance). The section is part of the
      larger Human Capital Group that takes a prominent research
      position within Europe. The section actively participates
      in the research activities of the Tinbergen Institute.

      Section members are also involved in teaching at both the
      undergraduate (Bsc) and the graduate (Msc) level. The field
      of Economics of Organization and Entrepreneurship is well-
      embedded in the overall economics curriculum, being one of
      the main tracks business economics students can specialize
      in. It emphasizes a quantitative and analytical approach.

      Candidates are expected to conduct research within the
      field of the Economics of Organization and
      Entrepreneurship, broadly defined. Research should reflect
      a clear quantitative and analytical orientation, preferably -
      given the current composition of the group and its
      research activities - empirical in nature. Successful
      completion of the tenure track requires, among others, that
      the candidate classifies as a fellow of the Tinbergen
      Institute after four years. Moreover, candidates should be
      able to teach at the different levels in the program and on
      various topics within the field of Economics of
      Organization and Entrepreneurship.


      JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

      Requirements are a PhD in Economics, the proven ability to
      initiate and implement research of international standards,
      the ability to stimulate and encourage the research of
      others, demonstrated teaching competence, and the ability
      to teach in English. Short listed candidates will be asked
      to give an academic seminar.

      APPOINTMENT:

      The salary will be on the salary scale for Assistant
      Professors at Dutch universities and in accordance with the
      collective agreement regulating employment conditions at
      Dutch universities. The date on which the appointment is to
      begin will be determined by mutual agreement, preferably by
      July 2008. The appointment will be for an initial period of
      one year, upon adequate functioning, the appointment is
      prolonged for another period of three years. After this
      extension, there will be the possibility to become tenured
      (tenure will depend upon good research and teaching
      performance).

      Official Dutch scales for Assistant Professors run from
      Euro 2,330 (minimum scale 10) to Euro 4,868 (max scale 12)
      gross per month. Favourable tax agreements may apply to
      non-Dutch applicants and the University offers a very
      attractive pension scheme.
