The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at the
Universiteit van Amsterdam (UvA) conducts international
research in the fields of Accounting, Finance, Management,
Economics and Econometrics. It also provides academic

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The successful applicant will undertake and help coordinate
research and teaching in the field of Economics of
Organization and Entrepreneurship.
The Universiteit van Amsterdam School of Economics (ASE) is
among the top economics research institutes in Europe. The
most recent ranking by the Journal of the European Economic
Association puts the ASE in the top 10. The School fosters
a stimulating academic climate.
Researchers in the Economics of Organization and
Entrepreneurship section currently publish on topics in
Economics of Organization (e.g. personnel economics,
behavioral contract theory, performance measurement) and
Entrepreneurship (e.g. determinants of entrepreneurial
activity and performance). The section is part of the
larger Human Capital Group that takes a prominent research
position within Europe. The section actively participates
in the research activities of the Tinbergen Institute.
Section members are also involved in teaching at both the
undergraduate (Bsc) and the graduate (Msc) level. The field
of Economics of Organization and Entrepreneurship is well-
embedded in the overall economics curriculum, being one of
the main tracks business economics students can specialize
in. It emphasizes a quantitative and analytical approach.
Candidates are expected to conduct research within the
field of the Economics of Organization and
Entrepreneurship, broadly defined. Research should reflect
a clear quantitative and analytical orientation, preferably -
given the current composition of the group and its
research activities - empirical in nature. Successful
completion of the tenure track requires, among others, that
the candidate classifies as a fellow of the Tinbergen
Institute after four years. Moreover, candidates should be
able to teach at the different levels in the program and on
various topics within the field of Economics of
Organization and Entrepreneurship.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Requirements are a PhD in Economics, the proven ability to
initiate and implement research of international standards,
the ability to stimulate and encourage the research of
others, demonstrated teaching competence, and the ability
to teach in English. Short listed candidates will be asked
to give an academic seminar.
