      JOB DESCRIPTION:

      - Identify policy challenges and solutions in the area of
        Social Security (the Old Age, Survivors and Disability
        Insurance programs) and related retirement security
        issues.

      - Develop policy options and reform strategies to enable
        AARP to promote social change.

      - Critique legislative and regulatory proposals, provide
        objective policy analysis to inform AARP's public
        outreach and advocacy efforts, and serve as an expert
        resource to AARP staff and volunteer leaders, as well as
        to opinion leaders and policymakers outside AARP.


      JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

      - Advanced degree in Public Policy, Economics or other
        Social Sciences, Law, or a related discipline.

      - 8 years of related experience.

      - Knowledge of the Social Security Program and appropriate
        empirical research methodologies.

      - Completion of a Doctorate degree preferred.

      - Knowledge of relevant data sets and experience in
        modeling the costs and impact of Social Security reform
        proposals preferred.
