Two (Junior) Tenure Track Positions
in Econometrics/Statistics

The Department of Economics and Econometrics of the Faculty
of Economics and Business of the University of Groningen,
the Netherlands, has two openings for tenure track
positions in econometrics/statistics.
Among other teaching tasks, the Department is responsible
for all courses in econometrics, statistics, and actuarial
science for students in BA and MA programs in economics,
business economics, econometrics, and accountancy. In
addition, the Department participates in the leading
Research Master in Economics and Business, a challenging 2-
year master program intended for students aiming at a Ph.D.
in Economics, or at conducting research of the highest
quality in various international organizations.
Research within the faculty of Economics and Business is
concentrated in Institutes for fundamental scientific
research and in Centres for the commissioning of contract
research. Members of the Department of Economics &
Econometrics participate in the Institute for Economics,
Econometrics and Finance (IEEF).
JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are looking for high-potential candidates in the areas
of econometrics or statistics, with an ability to publish
work in international top peer-reviewed journals. Research
will be within the Institute of Economics, Econometrics and
Finance. Teaching will be in the fields of econometrics,
statistics, and actuarial science. Successful candidates
actively contribute to research and teaching in these
areas. Research time is allocated according to standardized
faculty procedures.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Ph.D. in Statistics, Econometrics, or Quantitative
Economics.
2. Proven ability to publish in international peer-
reviewed journals.
3. Excellent teaching abilities.
4. Ability to attract research funding.
5. International network.
6. Organizational qualities and excellent communication
skills.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The level of the appointment (assistant or associate
professor) depends on the qualifications of the candidate.
The position is offered for a five year period. The salary,
according to university standards in the Netherlands,
depends on research years of experience and qualifications
and ranges between Euro 3129,- and Euro 4868,- gross per
month for assistant professors, for a full time position.
In addition, there are a 8 percent holiday allowance and a
6.4 percent end of year bonus.
Depending on qualifications, appointment at the associate
professor level can also be considered, and the salary will
be adjusted accordingly.
