      The Amsterdam Business School's rapidly growing Strategy &
      Marketing section currently has the following vacancy:

     ABOUT UvA:

      The University of Amsterdam (UvA) is a university with an
      internationally acclaimed profile, located at the heart of
      the Dutch capital. As well as a world centre for business
      and research, Amsterdam is a hub of cultural and media
      activities. The UvA is a member of the League of European
      Research Universities.


      ABOUT THE FEB:

      The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at the UvA
      provides academic courses in accounting, finance,
      (information) management, marketing, strategy, economics
      and econometrics. It also conducts international research
      in these areas. The UvA Business School and the UvA School
      of Economics form part of the FEB.


      ABOUT THE ABS:

      The Amsterdam Business School (ABS) has developed strongly
      in the past few years, has obtained Equis accreditation and
      aims to grow further in the coming years, particularly in
      the areas of marketing and strategy. The new professor will
      strengthen the strategy area at the senior level and thus
      help us to realize our ambition to become one of Europe's
      major schools. The appointment will be within the Strategy
      & Marketing section of the ABS.


      ABOUT THE STRATEGY & MARKETING SECTION:

      The Strategy & Marketing section is involved in teaching at
      the undergraduate, graduate and executive levels, including
      the Amsterdam MBA programme. The section's research
      programme focuses on strategy and marketing in the broadest
      sense; a special feature is its cross-disciplinary
      attention to innovative and socially relevant international
      topics, most notably corporate social responsibility,
      sustainability and cultural entrepreneurship, in which
      strategy and marketing researchers cooperate.

      As a whole, the programme is distinctly and deliberately
      interdisciplinary in nature, adopting theoretical
      perspectives from different disciplines, and using various
      research methodologies and methods. Staff members have
      recently published in international journals such as
      Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of
      Management, Journal of Management Studies, Management
      International Review, California Management Review,
      Industrial and Corporate Change, Marketing Science, Journal
      of Marketing, International Journal of Research in
      Marketing, and Journal of Retailing.


      JOB DESCRIPTION:

      The two full-time professors currently in the section have
      thematic orientations in relation to strategy (i.e.
      cultural industries and sustainability/CSR). A professor of
      marketing is currently being recruited. The new professor
      of strategy should have a clearly distinct profile and an
      established record in strategic management. For this
      position, we welcome applications from excellent candidates
      who have distinguished international research records that
      meet this requirement and those outlined below. The
      successful applicant will undertake and help coordinate
      research and teaching in the Strategy & Marketing section,
      and play a clear role in the further development of the
      section and the ABS as a whole.

      The Strategy & Marketing section is chaired by Prof. Ans
      Kolk.


      JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

      Requirements include a PhD in strategy or a closely related
      discipline, significant international working experience in
      top business schools, a proven track record of exceptional
      research performance, significant international
      publications in top academic strategy journals, editorial
      positions in international academic journals, leadership
      capacity in directing and stimulating research (including
      the successful supervision of PhD students), demonstrated
      teaching excellence, evidence of the ability to attract
      research funding, excellent communication and interpersonal
      skills, and the ability and willingness to contribute to
      the further development of the section and the organization
      as a whole.

      Short-listed candidates will be invited for an academic
      visit and a seminar.

      APPOINTMENT:

      This a tenured appointment that will last until the
      appointee reaches retirement age (currently 65) or resigns.
      The salary will be based on the salary scale for full
      professors at Dutch universities (maximum Euro 120,329
      gross p.a.). Favourable tax agreements may apply to non-
      Dutch applicants. The UvA offers a very attractive pension
      scheme.

     The date on which the appointment is to begin is 1
      September 2009 or as mutually agreed.
