The Human Development Report 2013 Research Papers Series is an edited collection of original research papers commissioned by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) during the development of the 2013 Human Development Report, "The Rise of the South - Human Progress in a Diverse World."

The authors are preeminent scholars from various disciplines in the field of human development with particular expertise in the key issues explored in the 2013 Report. Their papers analyze the salient characteristics of the "Rise of the South," examine social policy aspects of human development in these countries and development policy scenarios for the future, and consider implications of the rise of the South for global governance.
