The Sum is Greater than the Parts: An Inter-Disciplinary Conference to Promote New Perspectives and Innovation in Sustainability in the Urban Environment

The Homburg Institute Canada, in cooperation with Oxford University Press Canada, announces a call for papers for an inter-disciplinary conference on sustainability in the urban environment to be held on 14-15 September 2012 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.

PROMOTING INNOVATION THROUGH INTER-DISCIPLINARY INSIGHT: The conference is designed to bring together academics and practitioners in 'real estate' from a wide variety of disciplines and practices to promote conversation, shared ideas, and 'joined up thinking' about issues of sustainability in real estate development. The objective is to promote innovative ideas about sustainability by encouraging dialogue and mutual learning among all those involved in the process of real estate, including:
- Appraisal and valuation
- Architecture and design
- Business ethics
- Environmental law
- Environmental science
- Finance: Asset Management, Banking, Capital Markets, and Portfolio Management
- Construction techniques and building materials
- Business management, leadership, ethics and responsibility
- Engineering techniques and brownfield development
- Land planning, land use, and conservation
- Sustainable community development
- Urban economics and economic geography
- International comparative real estate
- Real estate development

Some presenters at the conference will be offered the opportunity of including their papers in upcoming edited volumes of the Homburg-Oxford University Press Advances in Real Estate book series (see: http://www.oupcanada.com/reference_trade/oxford_series.html)
