Finance and The Real Economy

3-4 September 2012, St. Gallen, Switzerland

PROGRAMME COMMITTEE: Martin Brown (University of St. Gallen), Christian Keuschnigg (University of St. Gallen & CEPR), Thorsten Beck (University of Tilburg & CEPR), Harry Huizinga (University of Tilburg & CEPR), Marco Pagano (University of Naples & CEPR), Frank Westermann (University of Osnabruck)

PURPOSE: The conference aims at bringing together researchers in corporate finance, banking and macroeconomics to explore topics at the intersection of these fields. The focus will be on the impact of banking and financial markets on the real economy with a mix of theory and empirical studies.

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS: Jean-Charles Rochet (University of Zurich & CEPR).

TOPICS: Submissions are welcome on issues related to the following themes:
- Micro- and macro-prudential regulation of banks and financial markets
- Taxation of banks and financial markets
- Access to external finance, investment and innovation
- Finance, institutional reform and growth
- Financial intermediation and business cycles
- Financial development, international capital flows, and FDI

PAPER SUBMISSION PROCEDURE: Applications and submissions should be sent to the local organizer, Christian Keuschnigg, at banking2012@unisg.ch by May 15, 2012. Authors, whose submissions are selected for the programme, will be notified by June 1, 2012.

EXPENSES: Funding for travel and accommodation for presenters and discussants will be available subject to CEPR Travel Guidelines ( http://www.cepr.org/meets/WKCN/misc/trp.pdf).
