8th Australasian Development Economics Workshop

7-8 June 2012, Development Research Unit, Monash University, Melbourne, Australia

The annual Australasian Development Economics Workshop (ADEW), sponsored by AusAID, brings together development economists from Australia and internationally with particular emphasis on the Asia-Pacific region. The next workshop is the eighth in the series and will be hosted by the Development Research Unit, Monash University, Melbourne.

OPENING ADDRESS: The workshop will be opened by Dr Michael Carnahan, Chief Economist, AusAID.

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS: Professor Abhijit Banerjee (MIT) and Professor Esther Duflo (MIT) will each present keynote addresses.

PAPER SUBMISSION PROCEDURE: The Organizing Committee of the 8th ADEW invite submissions for the 2012 workshop. High quality academic papers on all aspects of development economics are welcome. We particularly encourage papers with policy insights relating to the Asia-Pacific region. All submissions should be sent by email in pdf format to: gaurav.datt@monash.edu by 31st March 2012. Preference will be given to full papers.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Financial assistance will be available to cover travel and accommodation costs of a limited number of PhD students (who are near completion) and participants from the Asia-Pacific Region.

FURTHER INFORMATION: The Workshop will be held at Monash University. There will be no registration fees, but for catering purposes participants need to register for the workshop by April 30th, as lunches and a conference dinner will be provided. Registration details, the programme, accommodation options and further information will be posted on the conference website in April.
