"After(?) The Storm: Lessons from the Great Recession" Conference
May 24-25, 2012, Rimini Centre for Economic Analysis, Rimini, Italy
The Great Recession, which started with Lehman Brothers collapse three and a half years ago, had a big impact on both the theory and practice of macroeconomic policy. Effectiveness of monetary policy at zero bound, fiscal policy over the business cycle, prudential supervision of the financial system, the role of regulation, reaction to bubbles, and many other issues have been reassessed. The conference will be devoted to discussing lessons learned and theoretical and practical issues in implementing them.
TOPICS: Topics include, but are not restricted to:
- Advances in modelling financial/banking crises
- Unconventional monetary policies and forward guidance
- Deficit stagnation: fiscal policy when the economy is weak and the deficit is large
- Fiscal devaluations
- Regulation and monitoring of the financial system
- Disunion in the Euro area: PIIGS versus FANGs (Finland, Austria, The Netherlands and Germany)

REGISTRATION FEES: The registration fee is 120 Euro. A reduced fee for graduate students is 60 Euro. Registration is free for RCEA scholars. The fee includes meals.
SUBMISSIONS AND DEADLINES: Extended abstracts will be considered but preference will be given to completed papers. Academics and policy makers are strongly encouraged to submit papers.
Submissions should be sent to: jurek@wlu.ca. The deadline is March 15, 2012. Notifications of acceptance will be sent by March 30, 2012. Participants should register, and drafts are due, by April 30, 2012.

SPECIAL ISSUE: Review of Economic Analysis (http://www.rofea.org), an open access journal is planning a special issue. Submitted papers will go through the regular refereeing process.
