Debt and Credit, Growth and Crises
Banco de Espana, Madrid, June 18 and 19, 2012
You are invited to submit a paper for the upcoming conference on 'Debt and Credit, Growth and Crises'. The conference, sponsored by Banco de Espana and the World Bank, will take place at the Banco de Espana headquarters in Madrid, on June 18 and 19, 2012.
OVERVIEW: The goal of the conference is to bring together academics and policy makers to discuss the links between credit provisioning, debt accumulation, growth patterns, and crises incidence. The conference will broadly focus on the interactions between leverage through the cycle and financial crisis and recoveries. Special consideration will be given to the analysis of the challenges faced by policy makers, as well as the implications for Latin America and emerging markets.
The conference is open to both theoretical and empirical analyses with policy implications. It will feature 10 papers, a panel, and a keynote speech by Professor Ricardo Caballero.
TOPICS: The topics of the conference include:
- Determinants of credit behavior and credit allocation
- Financial crises and excess debt and credit
- Credit booms and crunches. Macroeconomic implications and international aspects
- Deleveraging and economic and financial activity
- The role of policies: monetary, fiscal, financial, macro prudential
PAPER SUBMISSION PROCEDURE: If you would like to submit a paper, please send a draft (extended abstracts accepted) in pdf or word format to BEWB_conference@bde.es. The deadline is March 30, 2012. Travel and accommodation expenses will be reimbursed for presenters of the accepted papers.
