Faculty Positions
Georgia State University invites applications for two or
more tenure track positions effective Fall 2008. Rank is
open; we have opportunities at the assistant, associate,
and full professor levels. For an outstanding senior
candidate, appointment to an endowed professorship is
possible.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates for assistant professor should provide evidence
of high potential for strong publication and teaching.
More senior candidates should have national reputation
based on record and recent publications in top-quality
journals. We also invite applications for at least one
non-tenure track position at the Lecturer or Clinical
Assistant Professor level effective Fall 2008. Candidates
must have a doctorate (preferred) or master's degree in
Accounting (or related field) and demonstrated high-level
classroom performance. Those appointed at Clinical
Assistant Professor level must have a Ph.D. in Accounting
(or related field), significant professional experience,
and the capability for publishing research in refereed
journals. Areas of need include financial, managerial,
auditing, tax, and accounting information systems.
Salaries are competitive. Positions are contingent on
budget approval.
ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY, COLLEGE AND SCHOOL:
Georgia State University, in downtown Atlanta, serves
approximately 27,000 students. The J. Mack Robinson College
of Business, one of the largest AACSB accredited business
schools in the U.S., offers undergraduate degree programs,
graduate programs (MBA, specialized masters, and doctoral
programs) and a spectrum of executive education including
an EMBA. The College, which has approximately 200 full time
faculty members, enrolls approximately 5,000 undergraduate
students, and approximately 2,000 graduate students. The
College's part time MBA program has been ranked in the top
ten for the past 12 years by U.S. News and World Report.
Our EMBA is ranked among the best in the world according to
Financial Times and our undergraduate program is also
ranked in the top 50 by U.S. News and World Report. The
School of Accountancy with its 22 faculty members is one of
the best in the country. There are approximately 850
students in its undergraduate program and 200 students in
the MPA and MTX programs, and 8 students in the Ph.D.
program. Faculty members publish in the top journals in
accounting and the school is continuously evolving its
curriculum to meet the demands of today's world. Located in
the heart of one of the fastest growing and most technology
oriented cities in the country, the School of Accountancy
takes full advantage of its location. It is in the midst of
offices of the top accounting and consulting firms and many
of the top companies in the world including UPS, Scientific
Atlanta, The Coca Cola Company and Home Depot. Executives
from the leading Atlanta firms serve on the School and
College Advisory Boards and play an active role in shaping
the curriculum and provide resources to support our
research.
