Anticipated Faculty Positions in Accounting Academic Year 2014-2015
The John T. Steed School of Accounting Michael F. Price College of
Business anticipates two faculty openings for the academic year
2014-15. Primary needs are for faculty in financial accounting, with
a secondary need in managerial accounting. The preferred research
focus is empirical archival research.
RANK: Assistant, Associate or Full Professor with tenure or
tenure-track status.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Educational: Candidates must possess an appropriate doctorate or be
near completion. Candidates must have academic training which
indicates the potential for significant high quality academic research.
Research: Candidates for assistant professor must demonstrate
potential for research by their doctoral dissertation, publications
and working papers. Candidates for associate and full professor must
have an established record of research in highly rated peer reviewed
journals and an active research program.
Teaching: Candidates must be able and willing to teach at both the
undergraduate and graduate level including doctoral
seminars. Candidates should normally possess some prior teaching
experience and provide evidence of quality teaching
performance. Candidates at the associate and full professor should
demonstrate interest in working with and mentoring doctoral students.
EVALUATION: Teaching potential for candidates invited to campus will
be evaluated, in part, by the candidate's presentation of a paper to
our faculty and graduate students. Candidates are encouraged to
submit evidence of teaching effectiveness through submission of
student or peer evaluations of their teaching.
Research potential for candidates for assistant professor will be
evaluated in part by their dissertation topic and
methodology. Research leading to publication in high-quality
journals is required for promotion and tenure. Faculty members are
expected to engage in teaching, research, and service
activities. New assistant professors have minimal service
obligations for a period of three years.
Faculty at the associate and full professor level will be evaluated
based on their past academic record, current work in process,
evidence of quality teaching and high quality service activities.
Particular preference will be given to individuals who have an
interest in and experience in teaching and mentoring doctoral students.
We offer both graduate and undergraduate courses in most areas of
accounting. Degree programs include the bachelors, masters and
doctoral degrees.
SALARY AND FRINGE BENEFITS: Open and competitive based on applicable
experience. Candidates for senior positions will be considered for
endowed positions including the Rath Chair in Accounting and the KPMG
Professorship.
