Professor in Financial Accounting (Reference #: 13296)

QUT is seeking an outstanding candidate for appointment as Professor in Financial Accounting in the School of Accountancy. The appointee will contribute to the leadership of the School's research program, conduct high level research and actively participate in the management and ongoing development of the postgraduate research programs. The position is open to Australian and International applicants. Closing date is 14 July 2013. Salary/Classification is $AUD155 209 pa (Level E)

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The QUT Business School offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs to over 8,500 students. The Business School is one of Australia's largest and most successful Business Faculties and has committed a significant investment in the development of world class business research capabilities.

The School of Accountancy is one of four Discipline-Based Schools within QUT's Business School (Gardens Point Campus). The School teaches in the fields of accounting (financial and managerial); audit; accounting information systems; business, corporations and tax law; superannuation and wealth management; financial planning and forensics, offering programs of study at Bachelors, Honours, Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma, Masters (coursework and research) and PhD levels.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The appointee will be required to provide leadership in research and teaching. The appointee will: lead the research in the School through actively seeking external funding for and participating in research activities (including cross-disciplinary research as appropriate) and maintaining a high level of publication; and make a significant contribution to ongoing curriculum development and teaching innovation projects.

GENERAL STANDARD: A professor is expected to exercise a special responsibility in providing leadership and in fostering excellence in research, teaching, professional activities and policy development in the academic discipline within the school or other comparable organisational unit, within the University and within the community, both scholarly and general.
