Two Faculty Positions in Accounting

The Accounting section of the Amsterdam Business School is seeking candidates for two tenure-track positions of assistant professor in accounting. All fields of accounting will be considered, but the section has a specific need for candidates with a quantitative research focus, preferably in financial accounting.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates should have or be close to completing a PhD in accounting or a closely related subject. They will be evaluated on their potential for and/or record of excellence in research and teaching.

The Accounting section is involved in teaching at BSc and MSc level, as well as in executive education. A substantial part of the section's teaching is conducted in English. Staff members publish in top-tier journals including The Accounting Review, Accounting, Organizations and Society, Contemporary Accounting Research and Journal of Accounting and Economics, as well as in top-tier journals in adjacent fields such Strategic Management Journal and Journal of Management. New candidates are expected to contribute to research and teaching equally.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL: The Amsterdam Business School is part of the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Amsterdam. The Faculty has a student population of over 5,000 students, of which some 600 are non-Dutch. The University is located in the centre of Amsterdam in modern facilities. Amsterdam is a very friendly city with a high quality of life. Almost everyone in the Netherlands speaks good English.

APPOINTMENT: Successful candidates will be offered a tenure track position for six years, with a formal evaluation after three years. Upon meeting the criteria, a permanent contract will be offered. Starting date will be 1 September 2013 or such other date as may be mutually agreed. Salary will be in accordance with Dutch academic salary scales. For assistant professor this is between Euro 3,227 and Euro 5,020 per month (+16.3% holiday and end-year payments). Favourable tax conditions may apply to non-Dutch appointees.
