The Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB)
Research Fellow

The Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) invites applications for the Research Fellow position effective summer of 2013. The Research Fellow is an in-residence position at the FASB in Norwalk, CT, with an estimated term of service of 12 months. The Program's objective is to bring the experience and knowledge of accounting research to the development of financial reporting standards.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates for the position must have a doctorate degree, a demonstrated expertise in scholarly research, and effective communication skills. The position is generally filled by tenured professors, although non-tenured professors also will be considered. The Fellow's responsibilities include 1) consulting with project teams to identify existing research that is relevant to the issue at hand, 2) summarizing and communicating, in non-academic language, research that comes to the attention of Board and Staff or that the Fellow identifies, and 3) conducting or commissioning research syntheses to provide empirical evidence about assertions made by the FASB or its constituents. The Fellow remains a full-time employee of his/her institution, participating in the institution's retirement and health care programs. Applicants will need to discuss the Fellowship opportunity with administrators in his/her university and academic unit to be certain that the administrators will allow the applicant to live and work full-time in Connecticut for the term of the Fellowship. The administrators should not expect the applicant to engage in any teaching or service duties during the Fellowship period, due to the commitment required by the FASB.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Interested candidates can obtain additional information about the Research Fellow position by contacting the current Research Fellow (Jef Doyle, jtdoyle@fasb.org) or the academic Board Member (Tom Linsmeier, tjlinsmeier@fasb.org). Screening for the position will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
