Director, School of Accountancy
JOB DESCRIPTION: The Director develops, articulates and presents the vision for the unit consistent with the mission of the W. P. Carey School. S/he is responsible for personnel, curricular and budget decisions. Principle priorities include providing scholarly research leadership, recruiting students for a vibrant undergraduate degree in Accounting, Masters degrees in Accounting (MACC) and Taxation (MTax), and the doctoral program in Accounting. The Director will foster external relationships in a program committed to achieving national and international prominence in the field of Accounting.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must have an earned doctorate in accounting or related business field and a strong record of scholarly research, a history of strong service and teaching effectiveness commensurate with the rank of Professor at a Top 30 program in business housed within a major research university. The individual must have demonstrated written and oral communication skills for professional and non-professional audiences. Successful candidates must have strong interpersonal skills and a record of partnership building with alumni, faculty, staff and students as well as experience in maintaining and growing relationships within the business community. A named chair or professorship is also available for qualified candidates.
Desired qualifications include management and leadership experience within a department/unit of a major research university, proficiency in budgeting, and experience with shared governance with faculty, staff, students and administrators.
ABOUT THE SCHOOL OF ACCOUNTANCY: The School of Accountancy has 40 full-time faculty and staff who serve almost 900 undergraduate accounting majors and more than 125 graduate students in Master of Accountancy and Master of Taxation programs. The Ph.D. program has about 12 students in residence and a large alumni base at premier institutions around the world. Our programs continue to be ranked number one in Arizona and in the top 25 nationwide by such publications as U.S. News & World Report, The Public Accounting Report, and "America's Best Graduate Schools."
