The Department of Accountancy, Weatherhead School of Management, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, invites applications for an untenured faculty appointment on the tenure track at the Assistant Professor level beginning Fall 2013.
Assistant Professor - Accountancy (Experienced or Entry Level)
ABOUT THE SCHOOL: The Department has 10 full time faculty and supports a comprehensive range of courses at the undergraduate, graduate and executive levels including the BS in Accounting, the Master of Accountancy, and doctoral programs. Both the School and the Department are AACSB-accredited. CWRU is a private, non-sectarian, research and educational institution which enrolls nearly 10,000 students with approximately 600 enrolled in the School of Management. The University is located in the cultural center of Cleveland, University Circle, the home of the Cleveland Orchestra, as well as the Cleveland Museum of Art and similar institutions.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must possess an earned Ph.D. from an AACSB accounting accredited university. "ABD qualified" candidates from these institutions who are expected to complete their degree requirements by September 2013 will be considered. Applicants must provide recent evidence of effective teaching. Experienced candidates must have a demonstrated record of high quality research including published papers, accepted papers and papers in progress. Entry level candidates must provide evidence of capacity to complete high quality research. All candidates should provide evidence of current research papers with publication potential in high quality refereed journals. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Candidates must possess an active U. S. CPA license and have demonstrated knowledge of relevant authoritative U.S. practice standards. Applicants with recent relevant national public accounting or corporate experience or similar professional interaction are preferred. Candidates with a research specialization in behavioral, experimental subjects as a primary area with complementary interest to teach and research in areas such as financial, auditing, accounting systems or managerial are preferred. It is expected that all candidates will be capable of effectively teaching accounting principles at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Department offers a B.S. in Accounting and a Master of Accountancy program, and supports M.B.A. offerings and doctoral study in the discipline. Accountancy programs are AACSB accredited.
