The year 2012 will witness continuing expansion and growth for the Jerry S. Rawls College of Business at Texas Tech University. Of particular note, the College has just moved into a new 150,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility for business education, research, and outreach. Dean Allen McInnes plans to retire this summer after eleven years of distinguished leadership.
The Provost and the Rawls College faculty invite nominations and applications for this outstanding leadership opportunity. The Dean reports to the Provost and Senior Vice President and is the chief executive officer of the Rawls College.
ABOUT THE SCHOOL: Texas Tech University is the largest of the three institutions that comprise the Texas Tech University System along with Angelo State University and the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. With a faculty of 92, the Rawls College serves 3,545 undergraduate and 741 graduate students enrolled in one of the college's six areas of study: Accounting, Energy Commerce, Finance, Information Systems and Quantitative Sciences, Management, Marketing and Health Organization Management. In addition, the college offers dual programs in conjunction with architecture, agriculture, law, medicine, and personal financial planning.
JOB DESCRIPTION: The Dean provides the leadership and vision required to fulfill the mission of the college and works closely with faculty, staff, students, alumni, and the business community to achieve the goals of the college. Responsibilities will include long-range planning, curriculum oversight, academic leadership, and personnel. In addition, the Dean serves as a member of the Deans and Provost Councils, which provide leadership in determining academic policies and procedures and in developing long-range plans for the university.
The Dean will be expected to support and focus on the continued excellence in the areas of research, faculty, staff, students, and alumni. The Dean will represent the college both inside and outside the University as well as nationally and internationally.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will have a distinguished record of accomplishment, which merits appointment at the rank of professor and which ideally will include having an earned doctorate in a discipline appropriate to the college. Desired Characteristics:
