      The Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics invites
      applications and nominations for Chairperson of the Department
      of Accounting and Management Information Systems, effective
      September 1, 2009.


      ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:

      The Department is one of four in the Lerner College
      including the Business Administration, Economics and
      Finance departments. Programs in the Lerner College are
      accredited by the AACSB and the Department holds a separate
      Accounting accreditation.

      The Department has 21 full-time tenured or tenure-track
      faculty and 9 continuing non-tenure track faculty. It also
      offers an MS in Accounting and an MS in Information Systems
      and Technology Management.


      JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

      An earned doctorate or terminal degree in a discipline
      appropriate to the Department of Accounting and Management
      Information Systems. A scholarly record consistent with a
      tenured appointment at the rank of Professor at the
      University of Delaware. Possess an understanding of latest
      trends in accounting an/or management information systems
      and related emerging initiatives in the business world.
      Evidence of teaching excellence, established scholarly
      record, and commitment to outreach and service. Must have
      strong interpersonal skills, outstanding communication,
      and ability to work in a collegial manner with the
      department's faculty and staff, other academic units in
      the College and University, alumni, external business
      constituencies and the community.


      JOB DESCRIPTION:

      Reporting directly to the Dean, the Chair provides
      leadership and support for the department faculty; fosters
      an environment in which the excellence of the undergraduate
      program is maintained while the quality of graduate studies
      is enhanced; and promotes an environment conducive to
      significant scholarly activity. The chairperson should have
      the creativity and vision necessary to maintain a strong
      and responsible presence for the Department in the state
      and region, and to develop an international orientation for
      its programs. In addition, the Chairperson must be capable
      of promoting active links with academic, professional and
      corporate organizations and enhancing the Department's
      fund-raising efforts. The Chairperson will also lead the
      department's forthcoming AACSB accreditation review
      process.
