FRIEDRICH SCHILLER UNIVERSITY JENA

      Professorship (W3) in Business Administration/Financial
                     and Managerial Accounting

The School of Economics and Business Administration at the
Friedrich Schiller University Jena offers the following
position to be filled as of the summer semester 2008:
Professorship (W3) in Business Administration/Financial and
     Managerial Accounting.

     JOB DESCRIPTION/QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate is expected to represent the
entire field of Financial and Managerial Accounting both in
research and teaching. Applicants should have an
outstanding record in research, particularly in Financial
Accounting and Reporting - based on both national and
international standards - and should approach Financial
Accounting issues mainly from a Business Administration
perspective. Additional research experience covering issues
on the interface with Managerial Accounting (Controlling)
would be welcomed. All specializations will be considered,
but special attention will be given to applicants who are
familiar with institutional and procedural aspects and have
a strong publication record in theoretical or empirical
issues, especially regarding the value-focused management
of firms in a capital markets context.

As the School of Economics and Business Administration is
currently in the process of introducing consecutive degree
programs and strengthening its research profile, applicants
are expected to actively collaborate in the Research Focal
Point of managerial teaching and research, "Accounting,
Taxation, and Capital Markets," including its further -
interdisciplinary - development and the coordination of
teaching programs. In particular, coordination with the
Junior Professorship in "Business Administration and
Managerial Accounting," a position which is also currently
being filled, as well as with the chair teams involved in
the Research Focal Point in matters of syllabus design will
     be essential.

Applicants should take an active role in raising research
funding from outside sources and are expected to
collaborate in existing and projected graduate programs
both of the School and the University. To advance the
internationalization of the School's research and teaching
profile, English is envisaged as the main language of
instruction, though English-speaking applicants should have
     a fair understanding of German.

Prerequisites for this position are both a doctoral degree
and a postdoctoral teaching qualification or equivalent
scientific achievements as well as pedagogical skills. As
the School of Economics and Business Administration
intends to increase its female academic staff, it follows
the principle of affirmative action and encourages
     applications by qualified women scientists.

Physically challenged applicants with equal qualifications
and experience will be given priority over other
applicants. In case of an applicant's first appointment,
employment will initially be on a time-limited basis,
     though exceptions are possible.

     APPLICATION PROCEDURE:

Applicants should send their complete application papers
(curriculum vitae, copies of certificates, list of
publications, list of teaching experiences, and details of
funding related to successful grant applications) no later
     than January 31, 2008, to:
