Research in Accounting Practice - International Journal of Business
The International Journal of Business (IJB) and the School of Accountancy Research Centre (SOAR) at the Singapore Management University jointly announce a special issue on research in accounting practice. We aim to bridge the "schism" between accounting academe and practice by promoting rigorous academic research which can find a solution to a current accounting (and related areas such as auditing and corporate governance) problem. Research in accounting practice is expected to address problems which are relevant to accounting practitioners and regulators and specify what solutions would be, while also contributing to our theoretical understanding of such issues.
TOPICS: We welcome archival research which has direct implications to accounting practice worldwide. Some examples of research areas are listed as follows:
- Research in accounting standards, especially the development and application of International Financial Reporting Standards.
- Research in corporate reporting, especially the corporate social responsibility reporting, integrated reporting and information intermediaries such as analysts and mass media.
- Research in auditing and assurance practice, including enterprise risk management.
- Research in corporate governance, especially internal control system and executive compensation.
GUEST EDITOR: WANG Jiwei, Associate Professor of Accounting Practice, Singapore Management University.
BEST PAPER AWARD: A "Best Paper" award will be given to the best paper in the special issue, subject to the decision by the best paper award committee. The awardee might be invited to present the best paper at the Annual Accounting Conference on Accounting Practice to be held in July 2014 on the campus of Singapore Management University. Economy airfares and accommodations will be provided by SOAR. The committee members consist of CHENG Qiang (Director of SOAR), K. C. CHEN (Editor of IJB), SUM Yee Loong (Co-Director of SOAR), and WANG Jiwei (Guest Editor of the special issue).
