Call for Papers and Participants
Singapore Management University Accounting Symposium

December 12-13, 2013

The School of Accountancy at Singapore Management University (SMU) is pleased to announce the SMU Accounting Symposium to be held on December 12-13, 2013, in the SMU campus. The Symposium will bring together the world's top scholars and experts on accounting, governance, reporting, and standard-setting, to discuss topics in these areas.

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS:
- Mary Barth (Joan E. Horngren Professor of Accounting, Stanford University)
- Stephen Penman (George O. May Professor, Columbia University)
- Katherine Schipper (Thomas F. Keller Professor of Business Administration, Duke University)

PAPER SUBMISSION PROCEDURE: The symposium will also include paper presentations. Papers in all areas relevant to accounting are welcome for submission. The submitted papers should be well developed, but at a stage where they can still benefit from the group's discussion. Please submit an electronic version of the paper no later than September 15, 2013, to: soar@smu.edu.sg

Paper selections will be finalized by October 15, 2013. A travel (including lodging) subsidy of US$1,500 will be provided to overseas presenters.

PARTICIPANTS: The Symposium is limited to 50 participants to promote close interaction. Participants can register at the Symposium web site beginning September 16, 2013. A registration fee of SGD$300 is due from participants upon registration. The registration fee covers the symposium materials, tea breaks, two lunches, and one dinner. Participants are responsible for arranging their transportation and accommodation. Special room rates for Symposium participants are available from selected hotels within walking distance to the SMU campus. Please check the Symposium web site for details after the Symposium is open for registration.

SMU Accounting Symposium was first started in 2010 and has attracted participants coming from around the world. Each paper presentation will be followed by a discussant's critique and extensive discussions among the presenter and participants.
