CALL FOR PAPERS
CAAA ANNUAL CONFERENCE 2010
ACCOUNTING IN A GLOBALLY CONNECTED ECONOMY
Vancouver, British Columbia
Thursday, May 27-Sunday, May 30, 2010
Day by day the world is increasingly becoming more
connected - a single global village. Yet, conducting
business in a global economy is not as simple as it may
seem. Significant challenges still face us! How do we
overcome existing barriers and close currently existing
gaps in an effort to move ahead? Will IFRS really lead the
path towards convergence by closing the reporting gaps?
How do we overcome cultural gaps when implementing
management control systems and other business practices?
To develop and examine this theme or any other topic in
accounting education and research, faculty, accounting
students and practitioners from around the world will meet
in Vancouver at the Hyatt Regency Hotel to exchange ideas
and research findings. Papers in accounting, auditing,
taxation and accounting education from all research
perspectives are welcomed. We also encourage the submission
of papers written in either English or French.
PAPER SUBMISSION PROCEDURE:
The CAAA invites you to submit a paper, and/or volunteer to
support the paper review and selection process, to act as a
discussant, a panelist, or a session chair for the
conference. The Education Committee is already busy
planning informative education sessions. If you have ideas
for Education sessions, please submit them as well.
All papers submitted to the conference will be reviewed by
a Scientific Committee. As in past conferences, research
papers will be presented in a traditional seminar setting
with discussants. If the number of suitable papers permits,
we will add a research forum series to allow for additional
presentations of papers without discussants. Members of the
Scientific Committee for 2010 will be announced during the
fall. As mentioned above, you are welcome to volunteer.
All submissions should meet the following criteria:
- At least one author of the submitted paper must be a
member of the CAAA.
- All submissions must include an abstract of not more than
250 words detailing the research question, research
method, main findings and contribution of the study.
Abstracts for all accepted papers will be included in the
conference program.
- Author identification should appear on the cover page
only, while the paper's title should appear on both the
abstract page and the first page of the body of the
paper.
- Please submit electronic versions of both the full text
of the paper including the cover page (SSRN refers to
this as the "file"), and a "blind file" (the full text
the cover page or any other author identification).
- Papers must be submitted electronically in Adobe PDF
format by January 10, 2010.
The conference submission process is online and hosted by
the Social Science Research Network (SSRN) website. You may
access the conference submission page by clicking the
following link:

Note that the SSRN system requires that you be registered
with SSRN in order to log in and access the CAAA conference
welcome page. Registration is free and straightforward -
simply follow the directions on the SSRN login page when
you get there. SSRN will create a password and e-mail it to
you (they do this if you have forgotten your password as
well).
The "Abstract" section of the SSRN CAAA conference
submission page will ask you whether you want to make your
paper publicly available in the SSRN library. Your decision
here will have no impact on the outcome of the conference
review process.
Authors will be informed of the Scientific Committee's
decisions regarding paper acceptance by March 15, 2010.
If you would like to volunteer to be a member of the
scientific committee, session chair, panelist or discussant
or if you have suggestions for plenary sessions, panel
discussions or education sessions, please complete the
volunteer form available at the link above on SSRN.
We look forward to receiving your submissions and to seeing
you in "Beautiful British Columbia."
