44TH ANNUAL (2009) JOURNAL OF ACCOUNTING RESEARCH
CONFERENCE
CAPITAL MARKETS RESEARCH IN ACCOUNTING
The 2009 Journal of Accounting Research conference will be
held at the Graduate School of Business of the University
of Chicago on May 8-9, 2009.
We encourage the submission of papers across a broad range
of topics related to the role of financial reporting in
capital markets.
TOPICS:
We invite the submission of theoretical, empirical, and
clinical studies related to the conference topic. For
example, we are interested in papers that provide insights
into any of the following issues:
- The informativeness of accounting numbers, broadly
defined, with respect to price formation in capital
markets.
- The relation between key accounting numbers, such as
earnings, and securities prices.
- The relation between manager's voluntary disclosure
choices and capital markets.
- How taxation affects the relation between accounting
numbers and capital markets.
- Changes over time in the relation between numbers
reported in the financial statements and securities
prices.
- The extent to which behavioral theories can explain
aspects of the relation between accounting numbers and
capital market.
- Whether auditing practices affect the relation between
security prices and accounting numbers.
- International differences in the relation between
financial reporting decisions and capital markets.
PAPER SUBMISSION PROCEDURE:
Papers should be submitted electronically through the links
provided on the Journal of Accounting Research Web site at:

The submission fee is $400.00. The deadline for submission
of papers is January 5, 2009.
