FIRST ANNUAL CONFERENCE ON
CORPORATE GOVERNANCE AND FRAUD PREVENTION

You are cordially invited to submit papers for presentation
at the first annual conference on Corporate Governance and
Fraud Prevention to be held at George Mason University on
Saturday, May 10, 2008. The conference is aimed at bringing
together scholars working on current issues in the broad
area of Corporate Governance, Fraud, and Ethics. George
Mason University would award a cash price of $1,000 to the
best paper presented at the conference. The award is
sponsored by the Goodman and Company, LLP. The conference
will feature the following invited speakers: Ronald
Anderson of American University, Jere Francis of University
of Missouri-Columbia, and K. Ramesh of Michigan State
University.
TOPICS:
The Conference encourages submission of theoretical,
empirical and experimental works on the broad topic of
Corporate Governance and Ethics. Relevant topics include,
but are not limited to, the following list:
- Understanding, identifying, and measuring good governance.
- The causes and consequences of good governance or lack
thereof.
- The impact of corporate governance on international capital
flows.
- The governance role of external monitors and activist
shareholders.
- The role of governance in detecting and preventing fraud.
Business ethics and corporate social responsibility.
PAPER SUBMISSION PROCEDURE:
The deadline for submission is February 28, 2008. The
organizers will seek to provide all authors submitting a
paper an indication within March 20, 2008. To submit a
paper for consideration, please email a PDF or MS Word

FURTHER INFORMATION:
The conference will be held in conjunction with a one day
Corporate Governance and Ethics Symposium scheduled on May
9, 2008. The symposium will feature speakers from the SEC,
the PCAOB and big four accounting firms. Participants will
have the opportunity to have a high level dialogue with
leading experts on emerging trends relating to audit
practices, regulation and governance and would receive two
hours of CPE credits to meet Virginia BOA Ethics
requirements from the afternoon session. Please contact:

Conference participants have the option of attending either
the one day research conference or attend the Symposium and
Conference together. The registration fee for the daily
events is $175 each and the two-day combined registration
fee is $300. Participants whose papers are accepted for
presentation at the research conference would have their
registration fee waived for the research conference. The
registration fee will cover lunch, refreshments and an
evening reception. Transportation and accommodation would
be the responsibility of the presenters. Further details

George Mason University's School of Management is located
in Fairfax, Virginia, a short distance away from Washington
DC, with metro access to the city center. The University
has close to 30,000 students and the School of Management
enrolls over 3,700 students.
