Full-Time Faculty Positions

The School of Law at the Singapore Management University is seeking expressions of interest from leading legal academics seeking employment at all levels.

In particular, we are seeking candidates with teaching and/or research interests in at least two of the following subject areas:
- Banking and Finance Law
- Criminal Law
- Evidence Law
- Law and Technology (and related areas)
- Legal Ethics
- Securities Regulation
- Torts Law
- Contract Law

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates should have excellent undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications. Applicants for tenured positions should have a proven record of high-quality research. Candidates who have recently completed the LLB (or equivalent) or postgraduate law programmes will be considered for appointment as lecturers or assistant professors. Familiarity with the common law legal system is desirable.

ABOUT SCHOOL OF LAW, SINGAPORE MANAGEMENT UNIVERSITY: The School of Law at the Singapore Management University was established in August 2007 with the mission to build a collegial team of excellent researchers and teachers and to nurture lawyers who will lead and serve the community with distinction. Our programmes (currently comprising a 4-year LLB programme, a postgraduate Juris Doctor programme and the LLM programme) aim to produce holistic graduates who understand law in context, and who are able to think across disciplines and geographical borders. Interactive seminar-style teaching is employed to create a learning environment that is dynamic and challenging.

ABOUT THE AVAILABLE POSITIONS: In SMU, there are three categories of faculty - Standing Faculty (a tenured/tenure-track appointment where sustained scholarly research is a requirement), Practice Faculty (a renewable term appointment requiring substantial practical expertise) and Education Faculty (a renewable term appointment for those with experience in teaching and pedagogical research). Candidates may indicate their interest in any one of these tracks. Appointments at different levels (assistant professor, associate professor and professor) as commensurate with the candidates' experience will also be considered.
