JOB DESCRIPTION: The Assistant Professorship will be established in cooperation with the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH). The IWH is one of the six economic research institutes of the Leibniz Association in Germany (http://www.iwh-halle.de). It focuses on research in finance, macroeconomics, and productivity and innovation. The Assistant Professorship serves to deepen the collaboration between the Faculty of Economics and Management Science at Leipzig University and the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH), where the future employee finds an attractive academic environment and can gain access to important resources for research activities. The Assistant Professorship is intended to strengthen the joint research focus in Finance of the IWH and Leipzig University. We expect the candidate to have a strong interest in teaching and research in Financial Economics. Ideally the focus should be on empirical research
- dealing with the international integration of financial markets and the relationship to the regulation of the financial system and/or
- the interaction between the financial system and the real economy

A quantitative research approach and experience with the latest empirical methods, as well as an interest in applying economic research to policy questions are desirable.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements for the position are: the completion of an outstanding PhD in Economics or Finance, successful publications in international journals, and ideally an existing network of international research collaborations. It is expected that the candidate will successfully contribute to the research activities of the faculty and the IWH. The tasks also include teaching in the Faculty's Bachelor and Masters Programmes. English teaching experience is required. While knowledge of German is desirable, it is not a requirement for the position.
