The 30th Asian Finance Association Annual Meeting
Call For Papers and Participation

June 25 - 27, 2018, Hitotshubashi Hall, Tokyo, Japan

Asian Finance Association (AsianFA) cordially invites submission of research papers in all areas in finance to the Association's 2018 annual conference. Nippon Finance Association will host the conference. The AsianFA annual conference provides an open platform for finance scholars and practitioners worldwide to meet and share their recent research and exchange ideas and information on new developments in finance research. We look forward to a high-quality conference. The majority of the sessions will include papers selected through open competition. The papers will be double blind-reviewed by a committee of established researchers. The conference will also organize the doctoral student consortium.

ABOUT TOKYO: Tokyo is the capital and largest metropolis in Japan, where modern and historical buildings co-exist. With a population over 13 million, Tokyo is one of the largest financial centers in East Asia. The mixture of modern, traditional, and unique cultures has attracted many foreign tourists especially since Tokyo was designated to host the 2020 Summer Olympics and Paralympics. Tokyo is also one of the highest rank cities in the world for economic power, living comfortability, safety, and the number of Michelin stars.

CONFERENCE THEME: Papers in all areas of finance are welcome, including but not limited to asset pricing, corporate finance, corporate governance, derivative, financial crisis, financial intermediation, international finance, sustainable finance and market microstructure. Accepted papers are eligible for several categories of best paper awards as shown below, which will be selected by various Award Committees.

DOCTORAL STUDENT CONSORTIUM: Doctoral students are also welcome to present their dissertations in a session at the doctoral student consortium (DSC) which will be led by leading scholars. DSC session on asset pricing will be coordinated by Professor Sunil Wahal (Arizona State University). We are also pleased to announce that Renee Adams (University of New South Wales) will moderate the DSC session on corporate finance/governance. Two best dissertation awards of US$1,000 will be given to the best thesis in asset pricing and corporate finance/banking, respectively. If you wish to present in DSC, please indicate it in the text box popping up when you start submission process as well as your research field (asset pricing or corporate finance).

BEST PAPER AWARDS: The conference will offer multiple categories of best paper awards. These awards include:
- Four Elsevier and Pacific-Basin Finance Journal Sponsored Best Paper Awards (USD1000 each)
- Two best paper awards sponsored by the Asian Finance Association (USD1000 each)
- Two best dissertation awards by the Asian Finance Association (USD1000 each)
- CFA Institute Asia-Pacific Research Exchange Best Paper Award (USD1000 each)

Award paper will be posted on the web-site of Asia-Pacific Research Exchange
- More awards to be announced in the future.

SPECIAL ISSUE OF PACIFIC BASIN FINANCE JOURNAL: Authors will have the option to explicitly nominate their paper to be considered for publication in a Special Issue of the Pacific Basin Finance Journal. Further details regarding the special issue process (which will include separate manuscript review & revision for those selected) will be forthcoming in due course.

PAPER SUBMISSION PROCEDURE:
- Paper status: only completed papers should be considered.
- One paper presentation per author policy: Only one paper presentation may be made per author. If multiple papers of a single researcher are accepted, he/she needs to ensure that one of co-authors presents the second and subsequent papers at the conference.
- Volunteer requirements: Submitting a paper to the Asian FA Annual Meeting indicates an acceptance of the condition that you may be required to act as the discussant of another paper and/or session chair.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: January 25th, 2018 (US Pacific time)

SUBMISSION FORMAT: Please submit 1) a blind copy of the manuscript without author information, and 2) a separate file for the cover page containing the paper title, abstract and authors' contact information. Please send PDF or MS-Word version only.
