The Departmenat of Finance at the University of Miami, CIBER and AFFECT are jointly organizing the second conference on Showcasing Women in Finance. AFFECT is a committee of the American Finance Association (AFA) that aims to promote the advancement of women academics in the field of finance. The conference will be held at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida.

The aim of the conference is to showcase some female role models in finance and to provide an avenue for more junior researchers to receive feedback on their research and careers.

The conference will be followed by a panel discussion on "Can Women AFFECT Finance?"

CONFERENCE FORMAT: We will start the conference with a reception on the 1st of March, 2018. We will have 5 papers, a PhD session and a panel discussion. Each presenter will have 20-25 minutes to present their paper, followed by a 15-20 minute discussion. The discussants and panelists will be Renée Adams, Alexandra Niessen-Ruenzi, Paola Sapienza, Heather Tookes, Tracy Wang, Ingrid Werner and Toni Whited.

PAPER SUBMISSION PROCEDURE: Papers from all areas of finance will be considered. We encourage submissions from junior researchers and doctoral students. Papers that are at an early stage (but completed) will receive priority. Please do not submit a paper that has been accepted or close to being accepted for publication in a journal. The submission deadline is January 10, 2018. Authors of selected papers will be notified by end-January, 2018. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: All reasonable travel expenses of presenters and discussants will be covered, up to a limit of $350 for participants from the U.S. and $750 for participants from other countries. Hotel accommodation for up to two nights will be provided at the historic Biltmore Hotel. Accommodation for PhD students will be provided at the Gables Inn.
